How to Have Fun for Spring Break

Spring Break, unfortunately, has been linked to drinking, drugs and out of control parties due to biased media coverage. Not to mention the financial exploitation of travel agencies to lure students to certain areas where drinking age is poorly enforced. Spring Break is intentionally set as a time for college and graduate students to take a break and catch up with school reading or just have fun relaxing. There are many ways to achieve that goal without the help of alcohol or drugs.
Avoid the most popular destinations for Spring Break. In the United States, these are the top spots that come to mind when you think of Spring Break: Daytona Beach, Panama Beach and Ft. Lauderdale in Florida; and South Padre Island in Texas. Outside the country: Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Barbados, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Granted that these are the most beautiful places I have seen and the weather around the time is pleasant. You will also find a lot of vacation packages offered by travel agencies and Spring Break specialists or student travel services. Why spoil your vacation with crowds and come home with a headache or hangover?
Take a cruise. Gather a few good friends and go on a cruise vacation. You can get great cruise deals to Mexico and the Caribbean’s. There are fewer crowds to deal with and you will be guaranteed to have fun with the right company. There are all the discos, music and entertainment for you to enjoy on the ship. You won’t be disappointed with the variety of great foods offered at your convenience. If you really need a buzz, you can order all the alcohol you want, too. On port days, you can get your adrenal hikes on jet skiing, parasailing and Scuba diving. You don’t even need to be certified to dive in Mexico. Before the party frenzies come out, you will be back on the ship again.
Go skiing. By the time March arrives, the ski season is almost over and most ski resorts are closed. However, there are some that remain in business. Take advantage of these huge discounts on lift tickets and get out there and have a fun Spring Break.
Go Camping. For the nature lover, load your truck up with your camping gears and get yourself back in touch with Mother Nature. Rid yourself of your daily hectic school schedules and urban noises for a few days. Come home refreshed and rejuvenated.
Get your body toned up or tuned up. Hire a personal trainer and get yourself started on the way to a healthier and fitter person.
Go shopping. For the fashion diva in you, take the time to go to your favorite stores. You can shop at a more relaxed mode when you have time. Try different outfits out and pick those perfectly fit and reasonably priced items. You will be going back to school with a better looking you.
Watch Movies and shows. Check out all those great movies and shows you missed out during school time and go on a movie watching vacation at the comfort of your home, uninterrupted. Bring in your good bodies and enjoy the movies and shows together.
Visit families. If you are away from home for college, this is a great time to go home and be pampered by your parents. They will be delighted to see you and I am sure you miss those homemade meals you’ve loved and missed all along.
Do nothing. Plan nothing and just play by ear. After all, you are on a break. Who needs the stress?
